The head of the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA), Laura Codruta Kovesi, said on Monday, after meeting Justice Minister Tudorel Toader, that she was not asked to step down and that she is not planning to resign.
“He did not ask me to resign, I do not intend to resign, I have no reason to do so, the DNA did its job. It was a discussion I do not want to expand on very much, you will find out after this stage ends,” Kovesi said upon exiting the Ministry of Justice.
Asked whether she had any second thoughts regarding the way the file on the controversial Government emergency ordinance No. 13 /2017 was handled, she answered: “I always acted in a correct manner.”
On Monday, the Justice Minister announced he will present the conclusions of the evaluation of the activity of General Prosecutor Augustin Lazar and of DNA head Laura Codruta Kovesi.
“I made the evaluations (…) I will prorogue the deadline by two days. On Wednesday, at noon, I will organize a press conference (…) and I will give you all details,” the minister told journalists.
