Lafarge Cement increased its sales by 84 percent on the first semester of this year, which will be reflected in the overall financial results for the year.
The increase in sales was due to the focus on selling more on the Romanian market and decreasing exports, which overall increased the volume of products sold in Romania.
The results in the first half of 2007 were triggered by the good weather, which was favorable to construction works, according to Philippe Platon, finance manager with the company, quoted by Mediafax.
Lafarge will increase its turnover by 30 percent if the weather in winter is “friendly,” according to Platon.
The company started to increase its production capacity in Romania in all of its three factories in the country, an investment program worth EUR 50 million.
Lafarge Cement reached around EUR 233 million in turnover last year, a 33 percent year-on-year increase.
