Minister blames former gov’t for increased Bechtel highway cost

In 2008, Bechtel will be able to complete the first 40 kilometers of the Brasov-Bors Highway, according to Mihai Grecu, head of the highway company in Romania (CNADN). Bechtel representatives said the company would also work during the winter.
Grecu believes the company is working faster than expected on the highway, having already finished 37 percent of the Turda sector of the highway. Last year, the state renegotiated the contract with Bechtel. The initial estimated costs were EUR 2.24 billion.

Corina Saceanu
