This is the first Carrefour store in Braila. The retailer has recently announced plans to bring a second store to the city as part of Armonia shopping center, developed by RED. Works at the EUR 50 million Armonia project were scheduled to start in November this year and end in fall next year.
Braila would be the third city in which Carrefour will have more than one store, after Bucharest, with five, and Constanta, in which it currently has a store and where it will build a second. RED and Carrefour have recently signed a contract to include a 6,500-sqm hypermarket in the developer's Trident Plaza development in Constanta, RED has announced.
Carrefour has recently taken over Artima supermarket chain and is in talks to buy the discount chain Plus, according to international media.
