Romania’s unemployment rate stayed at 6.4 percent, the same level of the previous month in April 2016, according to data provided by the National Institute for Statistics. The rate has been on a straight line since February this year, while in January ot reached 6.5 percent.
In April this year there were 573,000 unemployed people aged 15 to 74, lower on the year (633,000 persons).
Standing at 7.2 percent, men’s unemployment rate was 1.9 percentage points higher than that of women.
By age group, unemployed persons aged 25 to 74 accounted for 78.1 percent of the total number of unemployed estimated for April 2016, with a rate for this age group of 5.4 percent. In this case also there was a higher share of unemployed men (6.2 percent) than of women (4.3 percent).
