The festival took place under the slogan “The Same Rights!” between May 19 and 24 and comprised a press conference, debates on topics such as civil partnerships, a gay film festival, photo exhibitions, plus an international exhibition of posters and parties. As in previous years, the last day of the festival was reserved for the Gay Fest march for rights. The primary topic of the festival was civil partnership. “Civil partnership will continue to be a topic of interest for us until this institution is available to all Romanian citizens without discrimination,” said Florentina Bocioc, executive manager of Accept association which supports the rights of LGBT people. “Over the last year, there were no positive changes in this direction, but instead there were concrete actions of decision makers to restrain the rights of LGBT people, a relevant example being the proposals to modify the Family Code,” she added.
