Praktiker Romania opens EUR 11.8 million DIY unit in Buzau

In south-eastern Romania, the retailer is present in Constanta, Braila and Galati. Earlier this year, it also opened units in Deva, Pitesti and Iasi, taking the total number of Romanian cities in which Praktiker is active to 20.
In Iasi, its unit is located within Era Shopping Park Iasi and delivers a sales area of 8,200 sqm and a 300-space parking lot. Since 2002, the retailer has invested EUR 230 million in developing its network and for the next two years, the company plans on adding 30 units countrywide. “Our main target for the next two years is to expand the network to more than 30 stores,” said Guenter Vosskaemper, general manager of Praktiker Romania.
The German group will target cities with more than 120,000 inhabitants for its expansion in Romania.
The group's local operations reported a EUR 251 million turnover last year, up 63 percent on the previous year's results.
