AFI to complete Arad offices in 2011, plans 14,500 flats

The project in Arad will also include a 33,000-sqm shopping center, called AFI Palace Arad. The shopping center will be opened in 2010, according to the developer. Leasing for spaces in the mall is ongoing, with companies such as Leonardo, Marks & Spencer, Diverta, Sephora and Forever 18 among the tenants. The project in Arad will be completed by a residential component, AFI Residence Arad, with 700 housing units.
AFI Europe is planning to build up to 14,500 apartments in Bucharest and Arad, according to the developer. The biggest of its project will be the 5,000-unit AFI Green City in Magurele. Second in size comes AFI Golden City, consisting of some 4,800 housing units, which will be built on the former Laromet factory in Bucharest. AFI Gardens in Pipera will feature 2,700 homes, AFI Village, some 585 units in Butimanu, and AFI Towers another 720 units, also in Bucharest.
The company's other retail and office projects target Bucharest, Ploiesti and Arad. In Bucharest, the developer will build Cotroceni Park, 76,000 sqm of retail and 60,000 sqm of offices, and AFI Golden Palace, 20,000 sqm of retail and 12,000 sqm of offices. AFI Palace Ploiesti will deliver 31,000 sqm of retail and 10,000 sqm of offices.
