Bestjobs: Manager hopefuls face stiff competition

Newsroom 16/01/2014 | 13:22

According to research done by Bestjobs, over 17.000 candidates with manager experience are competing for just 57 managerial positions.

In January 2014, one “Manager” position managed to attract 300 applicants. Competition is less severe when you take in account “sales manager” positions: only 29 candidates per job ad.

“Given the importance of the sales department in today’s economic climate, it’s normal to always be on the lookout for fresh talent”, according to the press release issued by Bestjobs.

Hirings within the Education sector are less likely: there are over 13.500 candidates looking for a job in Education and only 5 companies are hiring. The outlook is similar in the field of Administrative jobs. There are over 40.000 candidates with secretarial experience fighting to get the attention of only 1.400 employers.

Surprisingly, there is an excess of volunteers, candidates that don’t expect any compensation for their work. Bestjobs notes that for just 6 companies looking to work with volunteers, there are over 8.800 candidates that are willing to work without salary.
