Uber reached 1 million users in Romania after a bit more than three years and the number 1 million user is Ioana Ceasar, a young 27-year-old mother from Bacau, who lives in Bucharest. Uber has over 700,000 users in the Capital City.

I learned about Uber from my brother-in-law, who has been using it for some time, and who always recommends it, especially when I was back home late at night. I used the first time Uber the day before, when I went to an interview. I downloaded the app overnight and I used it the next day. I like the fact that I can see in the application how long it arrives, who the driver is and what car he has, but especially I like that Uber has introduced the cash payment. The drivers are polite and very busy, and when I go with my little girl they do not twitch when I see the carriage,” says Ioana Ceasar.

To celebrate the moment, Uber met Ioana and offered him 100 free races. Her first race with Uber was on May 17 and cost RON 10.

Exceeding the threshold of 1 million users shows that during these three years, we have switched from a niche service, especially for young people, to a table service. We have become an important part of the city’s mobility system, along with public transport and taxis. We will do our best to continue to offer a safe, transparent and reliable service in Romania, as we do in more than 600 cities in 77 countries. We firmly support the progressive regulation of new services, ridesharing, and we are confident that the authorities will decide to encourage technological progress,” said Nicoleta Schroeder, general manager, Uber Romania.

The Uber Company was founded in 2009 in the United States for the purpose of solve a simple problem – how to order a race at the touch of a button. 8 years and over 5 billion races later, Uber aims to solve an even greater challenge: reducing pollution and urban clutter, bringing more people into fewer cars. From February 2015, Uber is also in Romania, in Bucharest, and in 2016 and in Cluj, Brasov and Timisoara. In the world, Uber operates in over 600 cities in 78 countries.
