Telekom Romania brings new offers as part of the Telekonomy platform

Telekom Romania continues the promise “Cut the cost, not the benefits” and brings new offers as part of the Telekonomy platform, launched this summer. Thus, starting today, all existing and new Telekom mobile services customers, prepaid and postpaid, will be able to benefit from three months free access to the Kaspersky Safe Kids Premium application after they activate it. At the end of the three months, customers will pay only 1 euro (5 lei)/month, VAT included, or 1 euro credit in case of prepaid services.

To activate the service, the customers must send a free SMS to 1333 with the text “copil” (child).

Telekom Romania reintroduces the promotional offer for the Kaspersky Safe Kids application following the results of the Kids security* research, conducted by ISRA Center for Telekom Romania on a nationally representative sample of 1.000 respondents, children and parents alike. According to the data, 95% of the children surveyed, who are between 10-17 years old, mentioned they access the internet from their own mobile phones, 38.8% from their own computers or laptops, 27.4% from their your own tablets and 27.4% from a Smart TV.

The concern comes from the fact that children do not tell their parents all the time the truth about the time they spend online and the activities they carry out on the internet. When asked, children mentioned they are spending almost five hours on the internet, while their parents know of about four hours. Also, there is an important difference between what they are doing online and what parents know they are doing: 76% of children use social media, while only 51% the parents said so. For example, only 3% of parents said that their little ones spend more than nine hours on the Internet, compared to almost 9% of children (ie almost three times more).

Furthermore, 43% of children mentioned they have talked to someone unknown on the internet, while only 22% of parents say their children could do so. This almost double percentage demonstrates that children are not aware of the dangers that such actions can bring, but also that parents do not have any control over them. The consequences of this lack of control are serious, given that 26% of children said they have been bullied on the internet, while only about 10% of parents said that something similar could happen to their children.

“Due to the situation generated by the pandemic, more and more children interacted with technology and thus discovered the Internet, which they used either for educational purposes or for entertainment, with or without parental supervision. In order to help parents not to leave their children unprotected when confronted with the online dangers, but also to help educate them to use technology responsibly, we have reintroduced the Kaspersky Safe Kids Premium 3 months free offer. Through the functionalities it offers, the management of the websites and applications the child accesses, its geolocation, real-time alerts and notifications when suspicious online activities or restricted actions are detected, management of time spent online, parents have permanent control over the online activity that the little ones carry out”, said Andreas Elsner, Chief Commercial Officer, Residential Segment, Telekom Romania.

To communicate the kids safety solutions that Telekom bring to the parents, and to make parents more aware upon the online threats their kids might face, Telekom Romania created a unique social experiment, bringing the online dangers into the real world, by creating the “The Online Park”. The parents are facing the visceral threat of the digital dangers, and each “attraction” in park represents a genuine online threat.

At the same time, Telekom introduces the Smart WiFi service as part of the Telekonomy platform, instant plug-in internet without extra holes in the walls and cables in the house. Voted by consumers the Product of the Year 2020, the Smart WiFi service can be purchased with a 50% discount for the first 3 months (from only 14.5 lei/month).

Both offers are valid from September 7th to October 18th, 2020.

Moreover, because 80% of Romanians who ported to Telekom say they get a better price for the benefits they received**, the company decided to extend the offers for residential persons porting their numbers to Telekom’s mobile network. They can benefit from Mobil M subscription, with 4G unlimited internet, minutes and national SMSs, with 50% discounted price in the first 12 months, for which they will pay 3 euros/month (approximately 15 lei/month), VAT included. After the 12 months, the cost will be 6 euros/month (approximately 30 lei/month), VAT included.

Also, people who will port their number to Telekom’s mobile network will be able to opt for the purchase of a smartphone in installments, without interest and without an advance payment. They can choose for instance between Samsung Galaxy A21s or Huawei P40 Lite E, together with the Mobil M subscription, for which they will pay in total only 9 euros/month (approximately 45 lei/month in total, VAT included, including  6 euros/month for the device + 3 euro/month for the unlimited subscription)

Mobile offers are available from September 7th to October 18th, 2020, in the case of contracts concluded for a period of 24 months.

Entrepreneurs will also benefit from special offers, if they choose to port in the Telekom Romania network, between September 7th, 2020 and October 18th, 2020. Thus, the companies that will opt for the Freedom 5 subscription, will benefit from unlimited mobile connectivity – voice and 4G internet – with a 50% discount on the cost of the subscription in the first 12 months from porting in.

In addition, they can choose for instance between Samsung Galaxy A21s and Huawei P40 Lite E phones in installments, together with the Freedom 5 subscription, for which they will pay in total, in the first year, only 9 euros/month, without VAT (2.5 euros, without VAT, for the subscription and 6.5 euros, without VAT, for the telephone).
