Samsung Electronics officially launched the new galaxy A9, the first smartphone in the world with a quadruple camera that goes one more step in the direction of a DSLR. The mid-range phone has a price tag of EUR 600 and carries forward many functions from the flagships S8, S9 and Note 9.

It actually looks like a Note 9 and a S9 Plus, with the same size and the design, but with a cheaper processor. But it doesn’t feel underpowered and the camera should be the main attraction point for Millennials, the target buyer group.

As the company says, the Galaxy A9 “is built for those who know what they want and do anything to get it.”

“For the Millennials, travel, fashion and night-time photos in low-light are very important. And A9 comes to meet these desires,” says Alin Patrascu, telecom trainer at Samsung.

The first 5 MP camera allows the modification of the depth field, before and after shooting. The second camera is the main one, with 24 MP, good for bright and clear photos during both day and night. The third camera, the telephoto, allows a 2x optical zoom, and the fourth is ultra-wide and allows a 120-degree aperture, equivalent to a 70-80 normal lens.

The Samsung representative says that the Galaxy A9 is a mid-range product with a price that is said to be convenient and that it is inappropriate to compare this model with the company’s top-of-the-range phones. “It’s a product with a convenient price and we wanted it to include many features taken from our top products and offer this performance in a product that is as accessible to as many customers as possible.”

The Korean producer might have a problem with the price, higher than a middle-range from competitor and closer to a flagship. But it is the brand that also sets a higher price even for a mid-range device, and the final battle will come in the telecom operators’ offers, where Samsung has a very good reputation.

The phone is designed in three unique colors: Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink.
