Connections, the market leader in digital transformation in Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia, has finalized the development of the Smart Fleet Solution (SFS), the first integrated software solution for the management of the preventive integrated maintenance for fleet vehicles.

There are key features that make the Smart Fleet Solution a unique system in the world right now.  Built on an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) architecture with shared databases, the application can integrate, depending on the type of business and each client’s needs, modules for the management of the fleet, of the tires as well as enabling the taking of strategic management decisions.

The Smart Fleet Solution application was created with our Dutch partner and client ProAct Software BV and is aimed at transport companies who own or manage large vehicle fleets – for the transport of people, general merchandise, tow trucks or specialized industrial vehicles.

“The solution created by the Connections group enables the collaboration with the suppliers, clients and employees, through instant access to all the information necessary in order for the maintenance process to be controlled and efficient, which in turn optimizes the time and cost associated to specific operations.    Developed with cutting edge technologies, the application implements and allows the integration of automated instruments for the inspection of the tires, the GPS navigator and other ‘3rd party APIs’, is easy to scale and is delivered as a SaaS cloud solution”, says Bogdan Florea, founder and CEO of Connections Romania.

At European level, even in the Western countries, the degree of digitalization of the fleets is lower than 20%. The majority of the clients with vehicle fleets use as support for their preventive maintenance procedures the classic Excel spreadsheets.

“We designed Smart Fleet Solution for the markets in Western and Eastern Europe, The Middle East, South America and Australia. Although we do not have a concrete figure regarding  the potential of these markets, we estimate annual profits of billions of dollars. We already have 5 pilot implementations in Holland and we aim to have 200 by the year 2020, mainly in Western Europe and the Middle East”, explained Cosmin Lixandru, Business Development Manager at ProAct.

The implementation of Smart Fleet Solution allows reduction of up to 30% of total costs, both direct and indirect, connected to the vehicle maintenance.

“Following the extension strategy to foreign markets, by creating this application, Connections is bringing its group’s expertise to the transport industry, both regarding the transport of people and general merchandise. The next step is the extension of the intelligent solutions system for the management of preventive maintenance to other industries where the maintenance of the equipment needs to be organized” added Bogdan Florea, CEO of Connections Romania.

A part of the actual applications of the Smart Fleet Solution are connected to acquisitions, loss minimization or the management of the car repair shops.

Acquisitions may be done based on easily obtainable and correct data. The value of the ‘Total Cost of Ownership’ value for different types of vehicles, subsidiaries, brands is known in real time and represents an advantage in the negotiating process with the suppliers of equipment and tires. Also, the identification of the best type of tire for specific fleets represents a cost reduction of up to 25% of the total budget for tires.

Loss control is not possible without a reliable software. Examples include loss due to non-emergency vehicle parking related to maintenance issues or loss caused by useless and repetitive repairs.

Independence from the truck or tire producers. By using Smart Fleet Solution the fleet manager has instant access to the data connected to the functionality of the equipment, the length of their use and their life cycle stage from the moment these are acquired and at any point of their use.

The application allows the real time tracking of vehicle in use as well as the performance of the partner car repair shops as well as the expected length of repairs and the quality of the service.

Other uses are connected to the integration of certain automated instruments that measure the tires, the integration to systems that help plan the journey, the automatic submitting of repair invoices, the real time reporting of any issues that the driver notices, identifying the lost time by trucks and drivers.
