The crypto giant Coinbase announced that it will open its cryptocurrency index fund, started in March, is open to investors in USA. The company said that it had many requests from American investors so now it is reaching to those willing to invest between USD 250,000 and USD 20 million. For now, participation is limited to those who are accredited investors.

The situation it is kind of funny since crypto is, by default, open to everyone, but not Coinbase. The service will be cheaper than regular funds in USA.

Cainbase said that it is working to launch other funds that are accessible to all investors, meaning that the investors that are not accredited may find soon ways to invest in the platfomr funds. The only question that remains is that SEC (Securities Exchange Commission) is in the middle of an crypto investigation, so it maight take some time before Coinbase will be SEC-compliant.

Coinbase Index Fund gives investors exposure to all assets listed on our exchange, weighted by market capitalization. As we announced yesterday, the fund will be rebalanced to include Ethereum Classic, and more assets when they are listed by Coinbase in the future, according to the platform description.
