No inside look into Sibiu’s rise as an economic and tourism powerhouse would be complete without taking into account its nightlife. Business Review offers you ten excellent dining out choices if you ever find yourself in the heart of Germanic Romania.
Address: Piata Mica 16
Program: 10:00 am – 3:00 am
Atrium looks more like the kind of restaurant you would find in downtown Bucharest. It stands out in Sibiu thanks to its eclectic menu containing traditional Romanian dishes (bean soup served in bread) and more modern recipes (chicken skewers with peanut butter sauce).
Address: Piata Mica 31, Avram Iancu 1-3
Situated in Piata Mica, Crama Sibiana is one restaurant that you have to visit when in Sibiu. Although it’s situated underground, the brick galleries are accomodating enough to not inspire a sense of claustrophobia. Traditional Romanian costumes and miscellanous accesories complete the decor. Prices are above average but you will not leave the table unsatisfied, thanks to the huge portions. You must try the Bulz, meat stews or sausage dishes.
Address: 14 Cetatii Street, across Sala Thalia / 0747.777.222

This place offers you a cozy atmosphere, serving a menu of refreshing drinks from which to choose, Italian and international food and also a variety of sweets, whereas sometimes you can even relax here while listening to the philharmonic orchestra rehearsing in the nearby theater. Both Trip Advisor and Foursquare give the location good reviews for its food and cozy atmosphere, as well as the décor.
Address: 9 Piata Mica Square / 0723.152.125
Program: 9:00 – 24:00
It seems that Piata Mica Square is the promenade place of Sibiu, where all the fancy stuff is happening, especially the cars expo: most of the citizens park their expensive cars here. Go.in Café is a small Italian bistro with good prices for pizza and pasta. Sweets aren’t as good as their names, while clients complain on Foursquare. You can never go wrong with an Italian cappuccino, as we taste here and it was delicious.
Address: 24 Nicolae Balcescu Street / 0269.240.778
If you have a sweet tooth, we, as well as every person from Sibiu, strongly recommend Redal Café. The cakes are incredibly tasty, while their design isn’t exactly as in the pictures. They prepar
e them in their own laboratory, situated in the same building, and sometimes you have to wait in line for one of the best sugar experience you are going to have. Prices are very small, compared to a dessert in a restaurant.
Address: Strada Turnului, nr. 2
Program: 12:00 pm – 12:00 am
As the first wine cellar in Sibiu, the owners’ main wish is to offer their guests the chance to enjoy good Romanian wine in a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The menu lacks soft drinks, would may be enough to deter some from the restaurant, but if you don’t like wine… you’re probably not welcomed any way. The ambiance is more appropiate for a romantic dinner, given the restaurant is partitioned into separate chambers that offer privacy and the predominant color is red.
Address: Papiu Ilarian nr. 3, 550160
Program: 12:00 pm – 12:00 am
On a small alley which bind the two city towers to the Large Square, in the cellar of an old building of the 15th century, lies Crama Sibiul Vechi. If you can find it, you will love it. The space is limited but the food is delicious. A good alternative for Crama Sibiana.
Address: Filarmonicii nr.2, 550165
Program: 11:00 am – 12:00 am
Hermania is located in the building that used to belong to the Sibiu Filarmonica. Unlike most restaurants in Sibiu that struggle with using their limited space to the best of their aiblity, Hermania has no lack of space, with high-ceilings, huge windows and a gorgeus mezzanine.
Butoiul de aur (The Golden Barell)
Address: Turnului nr.4
If nothing else, the fact that The Golden Barrell is considered to be the very first restaurant in Romania should entice to try it. The tower-building where it’s located on Stairs Passage (connecting the upper and lower town of Sibiu) is one of the oldest in the city but don’t worry.
Address: Piata Mare, Nr. 1
We start in the center with La Turn (“At the Tower) located right smack in the center in Piata Mare. Using massive enriched wood, modern lightning and unique snap shots of old town Sibiu, La Turn brings to life certain key elements like a little side street, structural arches and exposed beans. La Turn, it’s not just a name that has won, without any doubt, the title of essential objective in everything that means culinary guide of Sibiu, but signifies a wonderful world where history and present blend together forming a perfectly balanced environment.
