Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the owner of the New York Stock Exchange, has been working on the development of an online platform designed to buy cryptocurrency, according to the New York Times, which quotes documents and people familiar with the project.

The potential crypto platform developed by ICE would “allow large investors to buy and hold bitcoin.” In addition, it has also explored swaps, another financial instrument, which would be linked to bitcoin.

The exchange competitors of ICE, Cboe Global Markets and CME Group, launched in the crypto market via bitcoin futures, while Nasdaq is also planning to launch a futures market for crypto.
