Gabriel Vlase, proposed as new head of Romania’s Foreign Intelligence Office (SIE)

President Klaus Iohannis has proposed Gabriel Vlase as the new director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE).

His appointment has to be voted by the Parliament.

Vlase is vice president of the Chamber of Deputies, member of the committee for defense, public order and national security and member of joint committee of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate regarding the analysis and update of the regulation in the national security field. He is a member of the ruling party PSD.

He is a graduate of the National Defense College, National Defense University. Vlase also graduated from the Superior College of National Security and of the National Intelligence Academy (ANI). He holds a PhD in military and intelligence sciences.
