Dragos Pislaru, proposed as new Minister of Labor, will continue and finalize the discussions regarding a normative act to correct the imbalances related to public sector wages, stated Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos, as cited by Agerpres. In this vein, Pislaru will also organize a meeting with unions as soon as possible.

Speaking of Pislaru’s main objectives, “I’ve asked him to organize a meeting with unions as soon as possible to resume the conversation and to see what the basis for discussing such a normative act are,” said Ciolos. “The Government doesn’t want to impose a normative act, but we want to reach an accord with unions in the limits of the available budget and to see if something can be done in this limit. After that, in the next days, [Pislaru] will present his program, which will be a continuation of what has been done so far, but I’ve also asked him, as I’ve asked other ministers, that from now on we step into a new governing phase and focus on delivering results, on projects that have already been prepared,” further added Ciolos on Monday, while he was participating in a debate in Tulcea regarding the Danube Delta strategy.

The head of the Government added that Pislaru is an economist and that since he’s been a counsellor in his cabinet he has also been involved, among other things, “on the work, the wage, side of things.” He further added that “Pislaru knows the projects that the Ministry of Labor has worked on and especially this wage project, the discussions we’ve scheduled regarding the minimum wage, the objectives regarding the creation of new work places, of professional training, which would lead to a better insertion in the work environment. Pislaru already has ideas, knows the governing program well and I believe it will be operational very quickly,” further explained Ciolos.
