VTEX, a global provider of cloud eCommerce solutions for large companies, openened a Romanian office in September as part of its European expansion strategy.

Romania became the fourth VTEX office in Europe and its first in Eastern Europe. The new VTEX center will provide support in the region and is an important part of the company’s expansion strategy in Central and Eastern Europe.

With the opening of the Romania office, VTEX appoints Ionut Farcas as Country Manager. He has 10 years of experience in eCommerce, and was previously a Business Developer at evoMag and a Project Manager in the Online Sales Department at Astra Asigurari, which has enabled him to consolidate his experience in the Romanian eCommerce industry.

Why VTEX expanded to Romania

The opening of the VTEX office in Romania has taken into account the accelerated growth of the local eCommerce industry has had so far, as well as the sector’s potential.

”We are still expecting a significant increase in the eCommerce market in Romania, driven by changing consumer behavior in favor of online purchases, but also by the need for buyers to have the most enjoyable online shopping experience,” says Ionut Farcas, country manager of VTEX for Romania, noting that all these changes required by consumers will involve more investments by retailers to improve online experiences as well as conversion rates.

VTEX has budgeted over EUR 2 million for investments in Romania over the next 5 years. By the end of 2019, the company’s plans also aim at increasing the team in Romania, depending on the pace of development.

According to the Gartner Magic Quadrant Report, VTEX customers say they benefit from improved TCO, and companies using the platform record a 54 percent increase in conversion rate.

Founded in 1999 as a SaaS CRM platform, VTEX has become an ecommerce solution provider. In 2007, Walmart chose VTEX for his online store. In 2013, VTEX has launched VTEX SmartCheckout, a patented, online, no-password payment technology, which generates a 20 percent increase in conversion rate for the stores that deploy it. Unlike other platforms, VTEX offers a low TCO, faster implementation times, and helps increase customer loyalty to retailers through its end-to-end solution.

Today, VTEX is present in 6 European countries: Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Portugal, Poland and Romania and aims to increase its presence in the region in the next period, opening the Romanian office to accelerate its expansion to Central and Eastern Europe. The company estimates that in 2022, 20 percent of total revenues will be generated in Europe.

Globally, the VTEX solution is implemented in over 3,000 online stores across 25 countries, generating a GMV that exceeds USD 3 billion. In Romania, VTEX has already completed three projects: for F64, Miniprix and Dacris, targeting 10 customers over the next 12 months and 50 clients over the next 4 years.

VTEX is the only True Cloud Commerce multi-tenant platform for the eCommerce market based on a flexible cloud infrastructure that generates higher conversion rates, low TCO and helps increase customer loyalty to retailers.
