The Software Development Center of Intel Romania was opened following an investment of several million EUR. The center will employ initially around 25 specialists in software R&D, but their number will increase three or even fourfold, as the projects diversify.
The center will develop software solutions that will serve to improve customer experience on a large range of smart devices on intel architecture such as smartphones, TV sets and infotainment systems in cars.
Romania is a good location for developing software, due to a prolific university environment, according to Renée James, Intel Senior Vice President and General Manager, Intel Software and Services Group
Intel Romania, the local subsidiary of American giant Intel, announced last week it would open a software development center in Romania, and the first in Europe.
Other companies that have opened R&D or technical support centers in Romania are Microsoft, Oracle, HP, and IBM.
