Toader, Klemm discuss collaboration in the field of recovery of illicitly obtained assets

Justice Minister Tudorel Toader and US Ambassador to Bucharest Hans Klemm discussed on Monday the assistance offered by the United States in recovering illicitly obtained assets through criminal activity.

The Romanian official and the US diplomat also discussed aspects relating to the field of justice, including the running of joint programs.

During the meeting, the Romanian side expressed the availability to conduct exchange of experience with US partners and welcomed the offer of the American side to offer expertise.

Today’s visit represented a good occasion to strengthen cooperation relations and collaboration between the two states,” the Ministry of Justice said in a press release.

Hans Klemm stated on Monday, after meeting Justice Minister Tudorel Toader that he assured the Romanian minister of the interest of the US in supporting efforts on the continuation of anti-corruption fight.

I came to introduce myself to the Justice Minister. We had a very good talk on the history of cooperation between the United States of America and Romania. I assured the minister of my country’s continuous interest in supporting efforts to strengthen the rule of law in Romania and, of course, to continue the fight against corruption,” Hans Klemm said.
