The unemployment rate in Romania stood at 7.3 percent in July

The EU27 unemployment rate was 9.5 percent in July 2011, unchanged compared with June. It was 9.7 percent in July 2010, according to official data from Eurostat. Romania had a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 7.3 percent in July 2011, roughly 2.5 percent below the EU 27 average.

The lowest unemployment rates were recorded in Austria (3.7 percent), the Netherlands (4.3 percent) and Luxembourg (4.6 percent), while the highest rates were recorded in Spain (21.2 percent), Latvia (16.2 percent in Q1 2011) and Lithuania (15.6 percent in Q2 2011).

Between July 2010 and July 2011, the unemployment rate in Romania increased by 0.1 percent to 7.3 percent. In May 2011, the youth unemployment rate in Romania stood at 22.8 percent, an increase from the 22.2 percent value recorded in July 2010.

Between July 2010 and July 2011, the unemployment rate for males in Romania fell from 7.8 percent to 7.6 percent. In the similar period of time, the unemployment rate for females increased from 6.5 percent to 6.9 percent.

In July 2011, the unemployment rate was 9.1 percent in the USA. In June 2011, it was 4.6 percent in Japan.
