The Government is again trying to start works for the construction and operation of the Ploiesti-Comarnic-Brasov highway segment. The new figures indicate 4 years for construction and an EUR 1.36 billion investment.

“Today we are approving the study on the construction and operation of the Ploiesti – Comarnic – Braşov motorway segment and the operation of the Bucharest – Ploieşti highway. The foundation study for this strategic investment project will be carried out in a public-private partnership, which was established in a previous Government meeting,” PM Viorica Dancila said at the beginning of today’s meeting.

According to the head of the Government, the awarding procedures and the competitive dialogue with investors will start in September, so that this contract will be signed by the end of this year.

“The highway connects the capital with the city of Braşov, crossing the tourist axis Sinaia – Busteni – Azuga – Predeal. The design and execution duration is set for a maximum of four years starting in 2019,” Dancila stated.

At the same time, the prime minister noted that the private investor will operate the highway for 20 years.

The estimated total cost of this investment amounts to about EUR 1.36 billion.

According to the prime minister, the National Commission for Strategy and Prognosis also has other studies for the public-private partnership projects and, as they will be finalized, they will be approved in the Government.
