French group Legrand buys Netatmo, a smart solutions developer for home infrastructure

The French company Legrand, present on the Romanian market, acquired the integrated solutions developer for home infrastructure Netatmo, founded in 2011.

Netatmo is collaborating with construction organizations to develop intelligent integrated solutions that fit into home infrastructure. The acquisition of Netatmo, the brand of which will be integrated into Legrand’s portfolio, will enable the group to strengthen its presence in the smart home market.

The French group will expand its portfolio of smart products linked to the integration of the 1.3 million active Netatmo products.

Netatmo’s 130 engineers will also bring expertise in artificial intelligence, integration of product software and user experience to Legrand’s research and development teams.

Fred Potter, the founder and CEO of Netatmo, will become Eliot Legrand’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and will help design interconnected solutions from Legrand and Netatmo.

Headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt (Paris area), Netatmo has nearly 225 employees and generates annual sales of approximately EUR 45 million.

In Romania, the Legrand Group has been present for over 20 years and sells through its distributors innovative products in the electrical field under the umbrella of 15 top brands, of which the most representative are: Legrand, BTicino, Zucchini and Cablofil.
