Terminal of upcoming Brasov airport to cost EUR 22 million

Local authorities have announced plans to hold a tender for designing and building the terminal of the upcoming Brasov airport by end-September. The terminal of the airport, which already has a runway and is expected to be completed by 2020, will cost EUR 22 million.

Works on the terminal began in 2012, and the runway was built four years ago. After that the project stalled. According to BizBrasov, the terminal is expected to cost EUR 22 million. According to representatives of the County Council, the Brasov International Airport will be ready by 2020.

The tender will be held by the end of September, President of the Brasov County Council Adrian Vestea said, quoted by BizBrasov. The terminal will cover 11,000 sqm and will be spread over three levels. The structure will be made out of reinforced concrete, and he walls made out of glass. The check-in area, with ten offices, will be located on the ground floor, alongside retail spaces, security and passport check area, and departures area.

“If the weather is favorable, on 20 October we will be able to complete the 19,100 sqm boarding-landing platform. I have all the reasons to be confident that the works will be completed by the deadline stipulated in the contract, which means that the extension of the sewerage and drainage networks connected to the take-off runway will be ready by the end of November,” Vestea said.

The works at this stage of completion of the works on the airport are made by SC Porr Construct SRL, the value of the contract being RON 31,631,476 (VAT included), which is fully covered by public funds.
