Carrefour Romania buys Billa Romania

Value of transaction: EUR 70-90 million (according to media sources)

Description: Carrefour Romania acquired the supermarket chain owned by Billa Romania from its German competitor Rewe. Through this acquisition, Carrefour becomes the leading supermarket operator in Romania, strengthening its multiformat offer to better serve its clients.

 

Carrefour sells two supermarkets in Braila

Description: Romanian retailer Zanfir Supermarket took over two Carrefour stores in Braila. When Carrefour took over the Billa retail chain, it made a commitment to the Competition Council that it would give up three stores to other supermarket operators in Braila: two Carrefour Market and one Billa.

 

First Property Group buys nine stores from Lidl

Value of transaction: EUR 10.5 million

Description: British investment fund First Property Group bought nine local supermarkets from German retailer Lidl. Out of the total acquisition price, EUR 4 million was covered by the fund and its investors, while the rest was attracted from other sources.

 

GoodMills sells two stores

Legal team seller: Reff & Asociatii, Deloitte (financial)

Description: The stores Casa Brutarilor and Belforno Fresh, specialized in the bakery and pastry industry, were sold by GoodMills group to Bake Expert. The deal marked the group’s exit from the retail segment. GoodMills still owns a bread plant and is still active in the milling segment.

 

Goodmills Romania sells retail business to Lantmannen Unibake

Description: Goodmills Romania sold the group’s retail activity, comprising 46 food stores, to a local investor, involving the transfer of employees, equipment, good will, stocks, receivables and trademarks.
