Close to 110,000 Romanians who spent the Easter Holidays within the accommodation units from Romania spent over EUR 7 million, according to the data of the Unions Federation of Romanian Tourism (FPTR).

The most popular destinations were Valea Prahovei, Bran-Moeciu area, Bucovina and Maramures. On the other hand, the seaside resorts gathered 900 tourists, who covered almost a third of the places available at hotels with the opening of summer season on Easter, which was an failure, says FPTR.

The offer from this year was diverse and was addressed to all tourists categories, from students to seniors. Romanians also chose the accommodation units from rural area, in city breaks in the country and in foreign countries.

Hotels and accommodation resorts from Romanian touristic areas had 136,000 available places for Easter, out of which were sold more than 108,000, meaning an occupancy rate of 79 percent. At the same time, there is a slight increase in tariffs, between 2-5 percent compared with two years ago. For the holidays spent in Romania tourists spent more than RON 33 million (over EUR 7 million), according to the computations of the FPTR.

Also out of the 75,000 available places in guest houses, tourists occupied 65,000. On the second place after the rural areas, the mountains resorts from Valea Prahovei were chosen. Out of the 30,000 places from rural areas, 22,000 were occupied. On the mountains resorts the average tariff for the Easter Holiday this year was RON 340/person for a three-night holiday.

The trend from the last years is also maintained in the booking method as less and less Romanian tourists chose to travel through the tourism agencies. Most of them booked directly from the accommodation resorts who used online booking systems, says FPTR.
