Romanian start-up story. What are the plans of renters.ro

A Romanian launched a platform that helps people find rentals without the help of agents or specialized firms.

Cornel Axin started the platform believing that renting as a process should be more personal. He claims that one of the biggest issues in finding a new home is the searching process.

“Once you found one, another issue is the management of that rent: bills, house problems management, ‘who’s paying what’ type of problems, and so many others. In a market full of agents and agencies asking for 50% commission  from both sides just because they have the landlord’s phone number, the thought of finding a property owner is painfully fading away. So the idea of Renters.ro platform has come naturally: let’ just create a platform where everyone gets verified before the account goes active,” he told BR.

“The verifying process is a very easy one, you just have to prove you’re the type of user you’re claiming. Once you’re verified, you create a profile with all your renter preferences and the system is going to show you the best matches for you. You apply for properties or invite renters you like without showing your contact details (only those who were accepted are able the see these details)” he added.

However, he says that they did’t get to any deal with investors when trying to explain their  solution (SAAS/PAAS), as the process needs time to be better understood. Moreover, the founder claims that “there are so many pseudo-investors out there so that  we decided it’s better for us to get back to work instead of losing time trying to search for the right one”.

Therefore, they are focusing on the main idea from which everything started: helping the two categories of people targeted.
