The Romanian Parliament has adopted the draft laws on the 2017 state and social security budgets. Despite not taking part in the voting, Romanian PM Grindeanu addressed to the business community in Romania the message that Romania will remain a country with a predictable economy.

The National Liberal Party (PNL), Save Romania Union (USR) and People’s Movement Party (PMP) voted against the draft law.

The 2017 state budget draft law was adopted with 208 votes in favour and 105 against and the social security budget was adopted with 208 votes in favour and 107 votes against and two abstentions.

The 2017 budget was adopted in record time, after only 13 hours of debates in the plenum, spread over two days.

I thank Parliament for adopting in emergency regime the 2017 budget. We all need this budget,” PM Sorin Grindeanu said. I would like to send a message of stability for investors and to reconfirm the determination of the Government to support the business environment,” Sorin Grindeanu said.

The 2017 budget will meet the budget deficit target of below 3 percent of GDP, Grindeanu said.

The annual budget is, certainly, an important moment for Romania, for Government and for Parliament, because there are prioritized all projects and all public programs on the short and medium term,” Grindeanu said.
