Romania’s FOB exports increased by 6 percent in the first five months of this year to RON 81 billion (EUR 18.5 billion) against the similar period of last year, while CIF imports gained 5.1 percent to RON 96.5 billion (EUR 22 billion), according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The trade deficit widened by 0.6 percent to RON 15.4 billion (EUR 3.5 billion) through to May.
Romania’s intra-community exports stood at RON 57.7 billion (EUR 13.1 billion), while imports amounted to RON 70 billion (EUR 16 billion), which is 71.1 out of all exports and 72.9 percent of imports.
Machinery and transport equipment and other manufactured goods took 41.3 percent and 34 percent of all exports, adding to chemical products, raw materials, mineral fuels, food products, tobacco and beverages with around 6 percent each.
Romania’s imports of machinery and transport equipment and other manufactured products were 33.1 percent and 29.5 percent, adding to chemical products and mineral fuels with 14.2 percent and 12.6 percent. Food products, beverages and tobacco stand at 6.9 percent, while raw materials reached 3.7 percent.
