Romania house prices up by 4.9 percent in Q2 2017, says Eurostat

House prices increased by 4.4 percent in the European Union and by 3.8 percent in the euro area in the second quarter of 2017, says Eurostat. Romania recorded a growth of 4.9 percent in the same period.

Romania’s house prices grew compared to the previous quarter of 2017, which was the highest increase recorded comparted from the third quarter of 2016 to the present.  There was a slight growth of 1.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016 but the prices dropped by 1.2 percent in the first quarter of 2017.

Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the house prices in Romania increased by 5.1 percent in the first quarter of 2017 and by 7.2 percent in the second quarter.

The highest annual increases in house prices in the second quarter of 2017 were recorded in the Czech Republic (+ 13.3 percent), Ireland (+10.6 percent), Lithuania (+10.2 percent), while prices fell in Italy (0.2 percent).

The house prices changes were measured by the House Price Index, but the figures are not seasonally adjusted.
