Between 1 January and 31 August 2018, the number of building permits issued for residential buildings increased by 5.1 percent compared to the same period last year to 29.009, according to data announced by INS.
Increases were registered in South-Muntenia (+402 permits), South-West Oltenia (+397), West (+394), Northwest (+179) and Center (+114). At the same time, decreases in building permits for housing were in the North-East development regions (-135 permits) and Bucharest-Ilfov (-72).
In August 2018, 4,059 building permits for residential buildings were released, down 8.4 percent from July 2018 and 8.1 percent down from August 2017.
In August 2018 compared to the same month of the previous year, there was a decrease reflected in the following development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (-324 permits), North -Est (-99), West (-18), and South-Muntenia (-9).
In the same period, however, growth rates were in the following development regions: South East (+52 permits), North West (+30) and South West Oltenia (+12). In the Center development area, the same number of permits for residential buildings was issued.
Of the 4,059 permits issued in August for the construction of residential buildings, 65.8 percent are for the rural area.
