The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) announced that the Derivatives Market has recorded a historic level of traded futures contracts on September 28. A number of 7.899 contracts worth RON 13 million were traded, beating the previous record of 2.847 contracts.
“The development of the Derivatives market on BVB is one of the main projects on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. BVB is looking to respond to the investors’ needs through new derivatives products, which would allow them to diversify their portfolio and obtain additional gains”, stated Valentin Ionescu, General Director of BVB.
Trading for gold futures with due payments in October and December largely contributed to the record. Since their launch in April 2011, 32.299 contracts for gold were traded with a total value of RON 52.2 million.
The size of a futures gold contract is 1 gold ounce, or 31.1 grams of gold with 995 purity, denominated in LEI, following the trading price on the international markets.
