La Mama opens EUR 160,000 restaurant in Bucharestaa‚¬a„¢s Lipscani area

The eight restaurant in the local chain La Mama opened in the Lipscani area of Bucharest following a EUR 160,000 investment. The restaurant in located on Bacani street and has a total of 165 seats, out of which 90 are inside the restaurant and 75 on the terrace. The restaurants chain is owned by Trotter Restaurant, also the owner of Cafepedia coffee shops chain.

According to Catalin Mahu, the owner of Trotter Restaurant, the company is looking to expand further this year and by the end of the year it hopes to open a music pub and a terrace in the Old Center area of Bucharest. “We estimate a total of EUR 1 million investments by the end of the year,” Mahu says.

The new location offers several novelties, which might be introduced in other outlets as well. These are: a space dedicated to presenting the wine offer, a different type and greater variety of furniture and a bar.

Trotter Restaurant ended 2010 with a EUR 7 million turnover, out of which 10 percent comes from the coffee shops chain and the rest from restaurants. For the new Lipscani location the company estimates a turnover of EUR 500,000 by the end of the year.
