President Klaus Iohannis condemns Police Force intervention in Victoriei Square

President Klaus Iohannis posted a reaction to the Gendarmerie’s violent intervention in evacuating Victoriei Square.

“In an authentic democracy every individual has a right to protest, but violence is unacceptable, regardless of political preferences. I condemn the brutal intervention of the Gendarmerie Force, strongly disproportionate in comparison to the behaviour of the majority of protesters from Victoriei Square. The Military’s attempt to kill people’s will with violence is a blamable solution. The Interior minister has to urgently explain the way she managed these events tonight,” President Iohannis wrote on Facebook.
