PayPoint Romania’s transactions up by 6.6 pct to 38.8 million in S1

PayPoint Romania’s transactions went up year-on-year by 6.6 percent to 38.8 million in the first semester of the financial year 2017-2018, with evolutions in all payment segments of the portfolio.

After closing the reference period in October, PayPoint announced the finalization of acquisition process of Payzone S.A.

Mugur Dogariu, managing director PayPoint Romania (photo) said: „The current year will remain for sure in PayPoint history as a crucial one. During the analyzed six months, we continued to increase organically on all interest segments. We continued to sign collaboration agreements on already known payment segments and we explored new segments. After the finalization of acquisition process of Payzone SA, the second semester of this year will focus on the integration of the two companies, the network optimization, efficiency, infrastructure investments, technology and on people.”

Dominic Taylor, CEO of  PayPoint plc, said: „For PayPoint, these six months represented a full period and with interesting challenges in the context of business remodelling. In Romania the company is still market leader. This continuous progress consolidates the board trust in our strategy.”

During the first semester, PayPoint Romania signed 14 new agreements of collaboration with the partners suppliers from utilities segment, transport, telecommunication and financial-banking sectors, both local and with national coverage. To insure access to the system of a high number of persons, during the analyzed period the company optimized and increased its network by 469 PayPoint stores. Thus, at the end of September, PayPoint reached 11.1771 payment units at national level, an year-on-year growth by 10.4 percent. As a result of Payzone S.A. acquisition, the overall national network exceeds 21,000 payments units.
