One in five Romanians uses private healthcare services

Around 20 percent of Romanians living in urban areas use private healthcare services, according to a study conducted by IMAS at the request of private healthcare operator MedLife. Over 70 percent of them prefer to use private services for their better quality. Other arguments they mention in favor of private healthcare clinics are cleanliness (45.7 percent), the attitude of medical personnel (43 percent), the short waiting time (39 percent), quality equipments (34 percent), the professionalism of medical staff (30 percent) and the absence of informal payments (29 percent). The survey was carried out between April 8 – 19 of this year, at a national level, with 1,000 respondents taking part in it.
