The number of mandatory insured houses policies went up by 2.23 percent reaching to March 31 to 1.67 million , compared with 1.64 million policies PAD in 31 March 2016, according to the statistics of Insurance Pool Against Natural Disasters (PAID), the company that issues this type of insurances.
At the end of 2016, there were 1.7 million PAD policies, while on 31 December 2015 were active 1.5 million policies.
According to PAID, at the end of March 75.4 percent of the active policies at national level were closed in urban area and 24.6 percent in rural area, according to the house type, 92.6 percent of the policies PAD focus on type A houses and 7.4 percent o type B.
The most active policies are in Transylvania (20 percent overall), Bucharest (19 percent) and Muntenia (18 percent) and the least ones in Maramures (3 percent of the overall policies) and Bucovina ( 3 percent).
PAID issues mandatory insurances for houses since July 2010. The main PAID objective is the insurance for the three natural disasters risks of houses from Romania: earthquakes, floods and landslides.
The mandatory insurance policies of houses cost EUR 20 for type A houses and EUR 10 for B type houses.
