Ciprian Ladunca, CFO of Metropolitan Life, is one of the latest confirmed speakers for the 16th edition of the Tax & Law Conference, the most long-standing event dedicated to tax and legal professionals in Romania organized by Business Review on March 13 at Sheraton Bucharest Hotel.

Get practical insights and applied solutions to the latest fiscal & legal developments and find out how to make the most out of them at the Tax & Law Conference, on March 13th.

This edition offers a comprehensive review of the major fiscal and legal changes rolled out this year and their impact on the Romanian business environment, in order to bring relevant, applicable solutions for any upcoming challenges.

Ladunca will join the Perspective of the private sector: CFOs insights panel, where the financial directors of large companies in Romania will have their say in the latest updates in the fiscal framework. The guest speakers will also address the way in which the fiscal challenges impact their daily activities in the companies.

“The stability and predictability of the business environment are key for attracting investors and domestic capital,” said Alex Milcev, Tax & Law Services Leader, EY Romania, who will speak at the conference.

We are expecting some updates in the near future regarding the large taxpayers declarative obligations on the preparation of the transfer pricing file until 25th of March. We believe that the most likely approach in this regard is an updated corporate income tax return form that will include a check mark regarding the existence of the transfer pricing documentation file, said Viorel Sbora, manager of Atipic Solutions, who will join the event.

Ramona Jurubita, Deputy Partner KPMG, Head Tax and Legal, said: “Businesses see the government as a business partner since every business must cut this partner a share of the profits. A good partner is a silent partner, who does not meddle with strategic and operating decisions, and who only makes demands which are reasonable. Consequently, this type of partner does not require payouts from presumptive profit but only from actual profit, is predictable and so does not change its claim on the business’s results from one quarter to another and at the end of every year. If this partner is interfering, unreasonable and unpredictable, it is just a matter of time before a foreign investor finds a way to disinvest and thus escape a destructive partnership.” Jurubita will speak during BR’s Tax & Law Conference 2018.

Representatives of the public sector will also attend the event. The president of the tax administration agency ANAF, Mirela Calugareanu, and Oana Iacob, state secretary at the Ministry of Finance, will present the plans of authorities in the fiscal area.

The panel of speakers in the event also includes Marius Ionescu, tax partner, co-head of NNDKP Tax Advisory Services, Alex Milcev, tax & law services leaders at EY Romania, Mihaela Pohaci, partner at PNSA Tax, Mircea Varga, CFO at Tiriac Holdings and Mihaela Ionescu, CFO of Microsoft.

The event also features an interactive workshop on the fiscal pitfalls in existing and newly introduced provisions.
