A new aeronautical qualification will be implemented as part of the Romanian national education system at high school level starting this September with a class of 20 students.

The partnership between Airbus Helicopters,  the Romanian Ministry of Education and the Brasov School Inspectorate was sealed in November 2015 and aims at establishing a new aeronautical qualification to develop the technical skills required by the aeronautical industry.

“Professional education is clearly one of the first priorities among the actions of the French Embassy and French Institute in Romania, which are very eager and enthusiastic in supporting this excellent Airbus initiative,” stated Francois Saint-Paul, French Ambassador to Romania.

The French Embassy will make available French education expertise within the project.

The Transylvania Technical College will host the class and will provide theoretical and practical knowledge, while French Aeronautical Jobs and Qualifications Campus of Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur will provide pedagogical expertise, and Airbus Helicopters will offer a helicopter airframe and specific aeronautic components.

This partnership comes in the context of the set-up of the new company Airbus Helicopters Industries in Brasov, which will start operations this year and will employ up to 350 qualified operators, technicians and specialists in aeronautics.

Airbus Helicopters, a division of Airbus Group, provides civil and military helicopter solutions worldwide. The company employs more than 22,000 people worldwide and in 2015 generated revenues of EUR 6.8 billion.

It is present in Romania through Airbus Helicopters Romania and Airbus Helicopters Industries in Brasov. The latter is a facility covering 10,000 sqm to house H215 production, which will become operational this year and will employ up to 350 operators, technicians and specialists in aeronautics.
