Economy minister Mihai Fifor will replace Adrian Tutuianu as the minister of defense, according to a decision taken by the ruling coalition PSD-ALDE. Tutuianu resigned last week after the Ministry of Defense claimed that there were issues with the payment of military personnel.

Tutuianu said that there weren’t any issues with the defense budget, but he stepped down anyway.

Meanwhile, Gheorghe Simon will be appointed as the new minister of economy. He is a graduate of the Mechanics Faculty within the Politechnics Institute in Cluj Napoca. He has worked in the past as local and county counselor.

The changes in the government structure have to be approved by president Klaus Iohannis.
