Mercedes-Benz Romania has recalled 1,449 cars, in three stages, most of which for fire risk. Most recalls concern A Class, B Class, C Class, E Class and GLC models. The announcement was made by National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC).

In the case of A Class, B Class, CLA, C Class, E Class and GLC, Daimler found that some cars could be overloaded when starting up.

“If the starter is blocked as a result of a previous fault and several attempts have been made at this stage and / or longer, consequently the starting electricity limiter could be overloaded and overheat. In the worst case, the surrounding components could ignite and a fire would burst,” the ANPC said.

In this service recall campaign, 1,295 vehicles are targeted.

The company also recalled 147 Smart vehicles. In their case, “fi the handbrake lever is extended, the parking brake may not exert the necessary force to secure the vehicle in all situations,” ANPC said.

Another recall campaign concerns 7 Mercedes-Benz GLC, C Class and S Class cars.
