Medicover, one of the main providers of private medical and diagnostics services in Romania, has completed the process of acquiring the Academica Medical Center, a transaction that strengthens Medicover’s presence in Bucharest, where the company already has a hospital, a maternity and ten clinics.

The transaction includes the take over of the full share package of the two Academica Medical Center clinics in Bucharest, both located in premium residential areas like Aviatorilor or Pitar Mos.

“We are glad to announce that the Medicover network continues to expand and evolve to offer patients the best medical services and to be closer to them, working at the highest standards. These two new premium locations in Bucharest are an extra step in the company’s growth strategy for this year. Through this transaction, Medicover’s position on the medical and diagnostics services market is strengthened,” said Adrian Peake, General Manager at Medicover Romania.

This is the second big transaction signed by Medicover in 2018, after the company acquired the Pelican Hospital, the main private medical services provider in Oradea.

“The Academica Medical Center has built a very good reputation which is well-deserved, offering the highest quality medical services. The company’s image has been built through the constant dedication of a team of over 120 professional doctors. These two clinics and Medicover share the concern for patients and the passion for excellence,” Adrian Peake added.

Medicover, an international medical care and diagnostics company, listed on the Sweden stock market – Nasdaq Stockholm – reported a revenue growth of 14.1 percent in Q1 2018 year-on-year, of EUR 161.9 million. The company is present in Romania through the Medicover medical network and the Synevo medical labs.

Law firm PNSA advised Medicover in the transaction.
