The senators have approved a draft bill that makes it mandatory for children to go through the smaller, intermediate and upper groups at kindergarten before getting in the first grade at school.

Eligible children for preschool are aged 3 to 6, according to the Ministry of Education.

The amended version of the bill states that all passing through the three sections of kindergarten will be mandatory up to 2030.

The same bill states that high school education and the upper group from kindergarten become mandatory by 2020, the intermediate group in kindergarten by 2023 and the smaller group by the end of the next decade.

The government said that local authorities have to make sure that preschool facilities are in place in line with the provisions of the law.
