Robert Redeleanu, the head of UPC Romania, will take the lead of the UPC operations also in Hungary from September 1, announced the cable and fixed communication operator on Wednesday. He will continue his activity from the Bucharest office, but the two companies will still operate as two separate entities.

Redeleanu will take the place of Magnus Ternjo, the current CEO UPC Hungary, who decided to leave Liberty Global after a 15-year career within the group.

Redeleanu joined the UPC Romania team in 2013 as chief marketing officer (CMO), after more than 15 years spent in the consumer goods industry, both in Romania, as well as abroad. From July 1, 2015, he is the CEO of UPC Romania.

During time, he had different management roles in marketing and marketing operations. He led Scandia Foods  as CEO (2009-2011) and between 2006 and 2009 he was marketing director for Unilever Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Moreover, between 2004 and 2006, Redeleanu worked in the telecommunication industry, being marketing director for Romania for Telemobil.

UPC Romania gained new 52,800 subscribers in the last year, reaching a total of 1.2 million clients at the end of June this year, according to the data of Liberty Global. The drop in the number of cable TV subscribers was compensated by the growth in the number of digital cable and satellite TV, so that the UPC TV subscribers grew to 1.23 million subscribers.
