Key move. Razvan Capanescu is the new Chief Creative Officer of McCann Worldgroup Prague

Razvan Capanescu took over the creative department of McCann Czech Republic. He has already moved to Prague where the are all the divisions of McCann Worldgroup that Capanescu will creatively lead: McCann, McCann Digital and Momentum.

McCann Worldgroup is the most important communication group from Czech Republic. The number of creatives that Capanescu is coordinating is 40 and the clients’ portfolio includes renowned brands such as: Avast, Bata, Gambrinus, Kozel, MasterCard or Vodafone.

Capanescu’s appointment in the new role comes comes on the backdrop of  the business results that the Romanian creative leader had in the last year on the local market, as well as the creative recognition obtained constantly on the local and international level.  

“We’ve found out about Razvan from one of our key clients that was also his client in Bucharest some years ago. We’ve been very impressed since the first contacts and now, that we know even better his professional background and spectacular portfolio, we are very proud that he is joining our managerial team. We wanted at the creative lead a true leader and we are convinced that we found one,” said Jan Binar, CEO McCann Worldgroup Prague.

“Razvan has been forever a good friend, but also powerful competitor. I am glad that Jan succeeded in convincing him to bring his talent to the Prague office. I am sure that Razvan will bring with him at McCann the desire and ambition to create remarkable things, but also the experience to see them through, transforming this office also into a creative powerhouse, consolidating the good momentum that we have in Europe,” said Adrian Botan, Global Executive Creative Director at McCann Worldgroup.

“I am very happy to come back into the McCann network, where I have been working several years ago, and to join the Prague team in the CCO role. I believe I will make a good team both with Jan and the new office colleagues, with Adrian and the colleagues from the region, sharing the same values. I am looking forward to start working in an agency as creatively ambitious as me and to enjoy the wonderful city, one of my favorite ones,” added Razvan Capanescu.

Capanescu has 20 years’ worth of experience in communication, from which 12 as a creative director. He was the creative lead of top companies such as Ogilvy, Publicis and, starting October 2014 and until the present, Leo Burnett, at the last two holding the CCO role.

In all of these companies he received numerous creative accolades at an international and local level, over 120,  among which the most important one being at: AdPrint, ADOR, AdSpot Award, Ad Stars Asia, Cresta, Epica, Effie, Eurobest, Golden Hammer, Golden Drum, The Intercontinental Advertising Cup, London International Awards, New York Festivals and Cannes Lions.

In 2015, at the most recent IAA Excellence Awards Gala in Romania, he was awarded the title of the Personality of the Year in the Romanian marcomm. Capanescu has always been selected to participate as a juror at international festivals such as Ad Stars (Asia), ADC Europe, Golden Drum, Eurobest or New York, and this summer as a speaker at Cannes Lions.
