Nicolaescu, who is a liberal MP, will replace Bogdan Olteanu, who resigned from his position as vice governor of the BNR, after anti-graft prosecutors started an investigaton against him.

Nicolaescu was previously validated by the reunited commissions of budget and finance in Parliament with 31 votes and will continue 5-year mandate of Olteanu.
