President Klaus Iohannis has submitted to the minister of Justice the prosecution request in the case of former president Ion Iliescu, ex-PM Petre Roman and Gelu Voican Voiculescu. They are accused of crimes against humanity in the case regarding the Romanian Revolution from 1989.

On April 2, Romania’s general prosecutor submitted to the president the criminal prosecution request for the three men. Romania’s High Court received a notification following Iohannis’ move.

Last December, the Military Court ruled out that in December 1989 there wasn’t a “power void”.
