Hourly labor costs in Romania up 18.2 pct in Q1

The hourly labor costs in Romania went up by 18.2 percent in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period of 2016, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The costs went up by 0.96 percent compared with the previous quarter.

„Compared with the same quarter of 2016, the hourly cost of labor went up in all the economic activities. The highest growth rates of the hourly cost of workforce is observed in healthcare and social assistance (37.86 percent), shows, cultural and creative activities (30.06 percent), education (22.36 percent), public administration (21.89 percent) and activities of administrative activities and support services activities (21.08 percent). The smallest growth was registered in extractive industry (1.24 percent). The hourly cost of workforce from public sector was influenced mainly by the appliance of the legal previsions from the field. The growth compared with the same quarter of 2016 for salaries was 17.24 percent and for the indices in non-adjusted form is 18.22 percent. The indirect expenses registered similar gains,” said the INS.
