Henri Coanda Airport passengers numbers up to 10.98 mln in 2016

The International Airport Henri Coanda, from Otopeni, registered 10.98 million passengers in 2016, after an increase of 18.3 percent in the number of passengers that transited the Bucharest airports, said on Wednesday the National Company of Airports Bucharest (CNAB), the state-owned company that manages the two airports from Bucharest.

CNAB administrates both the Henri Coanda and Baneasa airports.

Thus, in 2016, the Henri Coanda registered a traffic of 10.98 million passengers and together with Baneasa airport the traffic was of 10.99 million passengers, according to the official data.

Approximately 85 percent of the Henri Coanda airport’s passengers were destined to the airports from the EU states in 2016.

In 2015, the Henri Coanda airport registered a traffic of 9.3 million passengers.

On the two Bucharest airports, 120,700 flights were recorded in 2016, out of which 108,200 from Otopeni airport.

„The evolution of the passengers number from the two airports exceeds the general tendency registered at European level. Moreover, on the Bucharest airports a substantial increase in the number of flights was registered. In 2016 the number of flights on the Bucharest airports increased by 11.2 percent compared with the same period of 2015,” said the company in a release.
